October came and went...Fall has now really settled and winter is right around the corner!
Halloween was a great time for the boys, besides the awkward timing (school night and right during Aymeric's Parkour class!). Grandpa Dennis and the Carberrys came over, shared games and dinner with us.
Zoe did very well with her costume but she did not make it further than two houses down the street! She was in full tantrum mode over candies that she could not eat! So I left everyone and took her home. She screamed and calmed down after I gave her a piece of chocolate.
We did not get many trick or treaters (maybe 6 or 7?) and ended up keeping our candies too!
The boys came home with pillow cases loaded with sweet stuff! Zoe definitely learned a lot about candy that day and since then, she's been begging!
The Sunday before Halloween, the boys were invited to Kyle's birthday party. They went by themselves and had a great time. It was a science themed party and a 'crazy scientist' came to show them experiments.
Curious George visits from school!
The last two weeks have been busy too. I spent a lot of time shuttling the kids to doctor's appointments, dentist appointments...it felt like a part time job! Aymeric got braces. Kilian got sealant applied to his molars. Zoe got her 18 month check up (with shots!) at Kaiser and her second dentist visit (her first cleaning)...she hated both appointments!
Last week, the kids had Thursday off , then Friday was a holiday...so it was a short week of school and a long weekend. Michael took Thursday off to spend it with the kids (and do some well overdue shopping...Kilian needed new shoes, new pants, new long sleeve shirts...he almost wears the same size as Aymeric!). Friday, they were home with me. We met up at the park with Anne-Laure and her girls. The kids made up some epic battle with sticks...Zoe just enjoyed the playground now that she has mastered the slides and climbing onto the equipment.
Friday night, Grandma joined us for dinner and a play! We went to the boys's school to see Alice in Wonderland acted out by the students (mostly 3rd through 5th grade). The boys loved it! Grandma enjoyed very much as well!! It was a really good way to spend a Friday evening! Zoe missed out; she stayed home with her dad. There is no way she would have sat through a 2 hour play!
Today, I met with Aymeric's teacher for his trimester evaluation. Aymeric was worried. He thought he was going to be in trouble and that he was not doing well. (He worries A LOT!)
But his teacher only had good things to say! Aymeric scored very well on the STAR test he was given both in math (90%) and language arts (93%). He already knows all the sight words that are expected to be known by the end of second grade. He reads a lot at home and scored at 4th grade reading level at school. He got all As. His only weak area is writing, mainly writing conventions. So I am trying to get him to write letters to his family...we'll see how that goes!
Tomorrow I have to attend Kilian's teacher conference. I think his report card might differ a bit from Aymeric's! Kilian does get in a little bit of trouble at school (whereas Aymeric never got in trouble in Kindergarten!). He can be too chatty, too noisy, and too squirmy at times!
Tomorrow is also Aymeric's checkup...he's getting shots too and he is already worrying about it!
Next, is Thanksgiving...and one week break! I can't wait for the break. I'd love to think I will be able to catch up on everything I have been meaning to do for the last two or three years...but I doubt that will happen! At least, I'll be home more and not running around everywhere so much!
The kids are also gearing up for Christmas. They are studying toy magazines/ ads and making lists that they tweak daily! Oh boy! They are going to be disappointed! Michael is in charge of Christmas this year...so I don't think the lists will be honored and I doubt the gifts will be wrapped!
