Fall at last!

This weekend was the official first Fall like weekend! Saturday was a great sunny, mild day. We had originally planned to go to Apple Hill but got ready later than hoped for and decided against going. Last year, we went there around lunch time and the place was packed, the roads were jammed and it just was not fun. We stopped at one place, got stuck in traffic and decided to leave! So instead, we decided to wait until after Halloween to go visit...

We enjoyed the tremendous weather by planting bulbs all over the backyard. We planted several types of bulb all around the yard. Zoe tried to dig but was better at plopping the bulb in the holes. Kilian did an excellent job at digging. We still have plenty bulbs left to plant and will probably do it again next weekend. In the front yard, we found a very ugly grub as we dug hole around the planters. It was truly hideous! I really don't like bugs. Afterwards, we watered and then tended to our vegetable garden. We picked kales and tomatoes.

For lunch, we used the kale leaves picked earlier and made kale chips. We also baked brownies. Zoe helped with the brownies. She really likes to stir and could not wait to like the spoon! I had several requests through the afternoon...so I ended up playing Lasertag with Kilian, basketball with Zoe and trying to play video games with Aymeric but I gave up (it was too complicated to figure out the controller). We spent the late afternoon in the backyard running in the grass, playing in the sandbox and throwing and kicking a ball around while the neighbor's stupid dogs barked at us the whole time (irritating another neighbor in the process). Guess what? I really don't like dogs! I don't see the point of owning a dog. Most people leave their dogs home alone most of the time for the rest of the neighborhood to hear them bark and whine!

We tried to get the kids to bed fairly so by 8:30 it was bed time! Zoe enjoyed a great long bath. She made up stories with fish and cups and wash cloth...not too sure what was going on!

At 4:00 am Sunday morning, I woke up the boys. Michael had set up a mattress with plenty of blankets and sleeping bags the night before. We tried to see the Orionids meteor shower but the sky was very cloudy. We were able to see some shooting stars and by 5:30 the clouds settled in. There was no hope! The boys wanted to stay outside so we went back to sleep outside.

Sunday turned out to be a lot colder and overcast! We went shopping for some pants for the boys because I am not sure they will be able to wear shorts every day now! Michael even made a fire in the fireplace to warm up the house! We spent most of the afternoon working on homework. Aymeric has a science project to work on and Kilian has homework around the 'Where the Wild Things Are' story. It's keeping us busy!
