After a wonderful visit from Mamie and Papy, this week off for Thanksgiving has been quite busy! On Monday, Mamie and Papy left us to go back to France. Kilian went to a playdate at his friend's Logan and Aymeric and I started working on his lengthy school project called 'Winter Contract' (the most uninspired named for a project!).
On Wednesday, Michael was off. Aymeric had a dentist appointment. We got ready for Thanksgiving: we baked pumpkin chocolate chip bars....made with real fresh pumpkin! I also registered us for a 5k the following day.
On Thanksgiving, we headed off to Folsom early in the morning for the Folsom Turkey Trot. The event was sold out and there were PLENTY of walkers! The weather was great and we all enjoyed our morning walk! Back home, we baked spiced pecans and Michael made his famous mashed potatoes.
We took off for Elk Grove around 3:30 and Zoe took a quick nap on the way to Mike's house. The boys could not wait for Uncle Chad and Grandma to arrive...so they just jumped and ran around everywhere like a pair of wild monkeys! Zoe did a lot better.
Dinner was great, as usual! Zoe was getting tired and kept trying to go home...so we HAD to leave.
The next day was a gorgeous day again so we walked to the kids school and let the kids play on the playground until Grandpa Jack came. No way were we going to join the Black Friday crowds!
On Saturday the boys went shooting with their Grandpa and Michael's friend Andy. Zoe and I met up with Michelle and Sophie after running some errands. It was another sunny day, with mild temperatures! I can't believe we are still in t-shirts...when a week ago it was pouring rain!
We had planned to start our Christmas decorating this weekend but the Christmas Tree lot we usually get our tree from has not set up shop yet! We did get a few new ornaments and new garlands. The boys can't wait until Michael puts up the lights outside but Michael does not feel well enough...(the stomach flu is going around and his fears are heightened.)
I have just finished getting caught up on school work and grading. I have everything ready for Monday and am about to finalize some of Aymeric's assignments for his winter project (which by the way feels more like a parent's homework assignment than a kid's!)
I can't wait until Christmas...the kids are getting excited...especially Zoe who saw Santa Claus at the mall yesterday as we waited around for Aymeric's new glasses to be properly fitted. She circled around Santa about 4 times...but she would not go sit on his lap for a picture!
