Last Monday, we celebrated La Chandeleur. The Boyd family came over so we could get the kids to embrace their French heritage...Right...that was our way to justify an evening of eating crepes!!
I made the crepe batter, cooked up some onions, mushrooms and bacon then added creme fraiche to the mix. We filled the cooked crepe with the mixture, sprinkle some shredded gruyere...and there you have it! It was yummy but the kids did not like it! They picked the bacon out and ended up eating ham, carrots, and 'cornichons'.
We found some good cider at Trader Joe's to go along with the meal. It was great!
Later, I made the dessert crepes. The kids were busy making a mess...they always empty all the closets to display all their toys...it's overwhelming! I guess we should donate half our toys so clean up can become more manageable!
The dessert crepes were a hit! The kids had theirs filled with nutella and topped with whipped cream! Kilian managed to eat 3 of those. The other kids stopped at one!
Overall...it was a great evening. Crepes take forever to make though and the meal lasted 2 hours...but no one minded! It's very French anyway!
I am ready to do Mardi Gras. This time we will do waflles and have the kids make masks.
