Roof!

This week, the roof has been installed. The "kitchen" is no longer under the stars! Electrical, plumbing, siding... Many things got done or started and we passed yet another inspection. 

The hvac unit has been raised. It sat on the roof for a week until the metal pieces to raise it were installed. 

I am glad we are doing this whole project while school is on. The kids don't get to hear all the banging, sawing etc... It can get pretty noisy, not to mention the swearing from the workers! 

It's been two weeks without a kitchen... The cooking is mostly done in the crock pot. We make enough to have left over so we don't cook that much and otherwise it's mixed salad with hard boiled eggs.  The worst part is doing the dishes. I do miss my oven... I cook everything in it and a microwave isn't the same. 

According to Michael, the cabinets will be shipped next week. Not sure how long the shipping takes. 

We still have to figure out flooring. We have several low cost ideas but Michael has his own obsession with hardwood so I think he will try to install it himself... If he can find matching 1950s 2 inch oak boards!
